Shining Star Waldorf School is about children and parents. 

 It is about freely inviting families with children of all ages to enter into a warm relationship with other families.  It is about gathering together in a beautiful space to use our heads, hearts, and hands to create something wonderful together.

And it is about sharing and celebrating festivals, handcrafts, play, and the arts.

Shining Star Waldorf School is about bringing the wisdom and insights of philosopher Rudolf Steiner using the pedagogy of the Waldorf School Model.  We are dedicated to recognizing that each human being, young or old, has inherent worth, value, strengths, beauty, grace, and a destiny here on Planet Earth.  Stages of development are incorporated into each teaching lesson, meeting children and parents in a meaningful, community-strengthening approach: whether dancing round May Poles or clapping the Two's Multiplication Table. 

We perceive how the child receives the education and use those perceptions to create the curriculum, the materials, the projects, the stories, and the music/art, that best meets that particular child at this time, in this place.  Our community education is strong, with speakers bringing important information on parenting, education, lifestyles, nutrition, relationship, and conscious development.  We nurture and protect our teaching privileges and value the community or parents and friends of the school.  Children are cherished at our school, and held with honor and warmth in the middle of the outer circle of adults. 

We are also leading the way in founding new innovative approaches to Waldorf education including enchanting opportunities to experience nature and participate in the pedagogical and economic work of the community.  Please join us in our journey into the fifth year (07-08).

We offer family playgroups, nursery classes, school, family education, K and grades programs, and education support courses for children in grades 1-5. 

We offer artistic classes including handwork and study for adults. 

We will offer preschool to grade six next year!

We are a community of human beings who wish to provide a Waldorf learning environment for our beautiful children and adults. Seasonal rhythms will be observed and embraced through stories, songs, festivals, and direct observation. It is about spreading out across the metropolitan area to encompass and embrace outlying communities to form Shining Stars in many places! 

As you can see, many interesting and wonderful things are happening in our midst. Do you want to join us?  Shining Star is a place where families of all income levels are welcomed: a sliding scale fee to cover our teaching and rental expenses will be asked.  A self sustaining economic model will be adopted and promoted in such a way as to reflect our core values of inclusion, mutual support, and human value. In our 5th year of operation, we have 54 children in grades 1-5, 42 children in K, 14 children in preschool, and 12 families enrolled in weekly playgroups! Next year we have enrollment of over 140 children in our school!  We are growing! Please investigate the  method to see if it fits your lifestyle and expectations.
